Germany’s music awards, the Echo Deutscher Musikpreis, ran from 1992 to 2018 and celebrated the best of German and international music. The awards were split across three ceremonies throughout the year, celebrating pop music, classical music and contemporary jazz in Germany.
In advance of the 2017 award ceremonies, the Echo Deutscher Musikpreis underwent a process of significant change, including a rebranding and an overhaul of the award show to recapture the imagination of Germany’s music lovers.
As lead designer, I redesigned and developed the award logo and corporate identity. I also led the design team in delivering the event branding and promotional campaigns for the three award ceremonies, as well as redesigning each of the websites.
ECHO LOGO FAMILY
The awards were divided into three genres: ’Echo’ celebrated the popstars, rappers, divas, singer-songwriters, DJs and rockers; ‘Echo Jazz’ recognised jazz musicians from Germany and the world; and ‘Echo Klassik’ awarded the sopranos and virtuosos of concert halls the world over.

Each of the three Echo awards had its own distinct history and character shaped by the venues, hosts and winners of any given year. The redesigned website allows users to relive these historic moments by delving into the Echo archives and finding their favourite moments of Echo history.
